Border Control across the West Midlands

Borders are where a garden either reads as looked after or as slightly out of hand. A clean edge and clear soil between plants does more for how a garden looks than almost anything else you can do in an afternoon.

Keeping on top of them is mostly about timing: weeds pulled before they seed, beds cleared and refreshed at the start of the season, and edges recut as they creep. Done regularly it is a quick job. Left for a season it becomes a big one.

    Beds left clean and presentable, with the green waste taken away.

How the job runs

  1. Look at the beds

    A walk-through of the borders and any problem areas, including anything you particularly want kept.

  2. Agree the task list

    A clear, agreed list of what the visit covers, so nothing gets cut back that you wanted left.

  3. Clear and recut

    Weeds out, dead growth removed and the edge recut to a clean line between bed and lawn.

  4. Leave it tidy

    Beds, paths and edges left clean and presentable, and the waste taken with us.

Little and often beats once a year

Through spring and summer, borders done every visit or every other visit stay clear with very little effort. Where beds are only touched once or twice a year, each session becomes a much bigger job — which is why border work is usually best folded into regular maintenance.
